But I thought the whole point of the game was to have fun... I know I do.

Guess my hand should be raised as well......the only green weapons I have are ones that dropped for me or my husband (and he then gave them to me)....I have never sold a weapon for more than 2k (got rid of some tombs stuff to a guy willing to buy anything)....and gold weapons, dont really care if its req 8, 9 or 12.....I also have quite a collection of COLLECTOR weapons that I still use because there arent any better ones in game (imo)...I have never bought a weapon from anyone other than the weapon crafter either.
I have been playing for more than 2 years as well, am married with a house, 2 cars, and old enough to have kids in college, et al.....not sure what you are getting so worked up about.....

either play the game or not, the rest of us dont seem to care any longer.

I have high end armors and relatively rare weapons, which are rare becuase they're not expensive and hence no one uses them. Ironic, ain't it?

However, I buy these items becuase they match my characters and I like their look, not becuase I look forward to logging in everyday and having people complimenting me on my items.

Not to be rude, but if that's true why are you the only person I've ever seen come here to complain about this in the past year and a half?

its arguable that you want those thigns for you, cause they look cool to you, but in the end, how many of you arent secretly showing off, on some lvl, or wanting to hear COOL ARMOR from a noob.
Actually no, I am not an elitist, I don't try to be better than everyone else, I am not the party leader so I can make PUGs bring the builds I want.

Also, the armour I get is armour I like to look at. I don't buy it just to see a noob say "COOL ARMOR".

The OP is very selfish and sounds more like he is more interested in farming and making money than enjoying to play the game.

P.S. The only special items I have are the Prophecies Game of the Year Edition items I can create for myself with /bonus and and the Bonus Mission Pack items, which of course I run the missions to collect...

Oh and I spent Wintersday making a complete set of CC Weapons and Shields.

I buy fancy armor because there's nothing else to do with my money, and I like the way it looks. I use fancy weapons because they dropped for me, so I may as well use them. Most people here are playing the game for themselves, you're playing the game to get validation and approval from other people.

I can't imagine why you would give a shit about what other people see on their screen, you can't understand why I'm not willing to do boring stuff to impress strangers on the internet.

I will admit I got a huge thrill the other day when I got a sword drop (I don't pay attention to stats) that used the same skin as Prince Ruriks sword... I love that Olympic Torch sword.

Now? They've been out since hard mode mate, you're a bit late.

Quote:
so NO LIE. I tested it last week.

18 hours of game play. TOTAL = max lvl, Most elite armor in game, best runes, best incription, fell blade max stats max inscription. Best Farming Builds available through Tome usage. Total cost 150k.

so for 150k and 18 hours I have just BEATEN GW for life. There is really nothing else to want. Yeah I diddnt max out titles, or beat all 3 campaigns FINE. But is this a Single player game, where beating a story line is the point?
1. So you're not taking into consideration the time it took you to get the 150k in the first place? It's not like you can just snap your fingers and it's there; certainly, any new player or casual player would have a tough time getting it. So...the situation you describe is only available to the hardcore player.

2. Yes, the storyline, the gameplay, and (later on) titles have been "the point" of GW from the beginning. Not slaving away trying to get an extra +1 damage on your criticals.

Quote:
No its an MMORPG where getting some piece of armor or a weapon or skill that some one else doesnt have is SUPPOSED to be the point.
Wrong on two counts: it's a CORPG, and the devs have stated from the beginning that they didn't want that to be the point.

Quote:
I look around any town and see nothing but l337 characters fully tweaked out. I cant remember the last time I saw more than 2 characters not wearing 1.5k or higher armor in the same place.
Well...yes. That's because max armor is supposed to be easy to get. Didn't you get the memo? 1.5k armor isn't "1337", and being fully "tweaked out" doesn't mean you've got nothing left to do (unless you are one of those players who thinks that high stats should replace player skill).

Quote:
So whats next? Are they gonna input a Farm somehwere, where Dire Blackwidows spawn. And you can warp there from ascalon for 10k. And jsut tame one. Yeah that would make sense.
No, it wouldn't. Difference is, a black widow is a prestige thing, so it can remain hard to get. If you can't distinguish between max armor and a black widow spider, you haven't gotten "the point" of GW yet.

Quote:
Seriously if they take my black widow away, and make it really easy to get Im gonna fing quit.
Newsflash: players took away the majority of the desirability of black widows a long time ago, when people discovered how to give runs to cap it. Rainbow Phoenixes, now those turn heads.

Summary of OP: "I think GW should be an <insert generic MMORPG that is based on grinding levels, armor, and weapons here> clone. I've played longer than those n00bs, why should they have gear as good as me?"

Get with the program, or go play a free MMO (or WoW) where you can grind your little tushy off.

The game can be great fun. Like anything else, it's all about what you make of it, or what you want it to be.

if you just don't like this game just because a casual player have access to ''elite'' stuff then, duh, stop playing and go to any monotonous grinding mmo if you like that kind of stuff, try mu online, it is the most boring game i have ever played in my life!

1.5k armor is "l337?" How silly. Anyone can get their max armor (1.5k, now 1k + inscriptions) within a month of casual game play. And since 99% of GW players have been playing for a lot longer than that, it shouldn't suprise you that most people have it (or better).

And no, high-end armor is NOT proof of elitism. Yes, there are those who have vanity issues and think that they've got to have that uber-rare, "must-have" weapon, mini-pet, and obsidian armor so they'll have something to brag about. But those people are relatively few and far between. And when they are encountered, they instantly lose any respect and all credibility - whatever else they have to say isn't worth the ink it's written with.

People have been asking for inscriptions and tomes a lot before they were released. They do nothing bad.

Also, don't use the word hardcore. It makes no sense in video games.

GW is not a MMORPG. if you don't accept this fact, then you'll never be satisfied with GW.

That view was not uncommon in the early-ish days of Guildwars. I guess most of that class of players have since moved to LOTR:O, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan and whatever other I'm-leet-you-can't-get-into-this betas are currently running. They'll be back for the GW2 beta, of course.

GW is dying, Everyone knows it, Anet knows it. The best way to make so quick 'last-sales' is buy making everything super-cheap and super-easy, so some person might get his friend to play GW aswell, cuz he doesn't have to grind 3 months to be somewhat decent. No, now you can tell your friend that in about 1 week he has EVERYTHING his heart desires in the game...

That's the life of a mmorpg man... Anet is a company, not a charity-institution, so not much U can do about it.

I know, I know, it's harsh, but hey, gues what, I'dd like to see it different myself, but it won't happen

(I skipped page 1/2/3 and just instantly replied to OP)
